BHP Billiton Trinidad and Tobago is now recruiting for the position of External Affairs Advisor within its External Affairs and Community Team. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to primarily support the management of media, government, industry and community relations in Trinidad and Tobago in order to maintain the positive reputation of the organization.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The main responsibilities of the External Affairs Advisor will include but are not limited to:
* Maintaining positive relationships with all relevant media, government and key industry personnel proactively keeping them engaged and informed regarding Company related events and activities.
* Managing and directing media responses including news releases, press conferences and newsletters.
* Representing BHP Billiton and acting as the Company’s spokesperson on media and other matters involving Company events and activities, as required.
* Assisting with the management of Company donations, sponsorship, sustainable development programs and publicity campaigns, as appropriate.
* Monitoring and advising on current / ongoing industry-related Government policies, programs, research trends and issues.
* Advising on and implementing internal communications initiatives, within the context of the External Affairs communication strategy.
AUTHORITY & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Maintain positive relationships with all relevant media, government and industry personnel and proactively keep them engaged and informed about BHP Billiton’s activities
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
* University Degree or equivalent.
*
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate communications / media / public relations or combination of relevant skills. Petroleum, energy or resource industry experience is desirable.
*
Must demonstrate excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
*
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, whilst managing multiple priorities is paramount to the success of the prospective candidate.
