The candidate chosen for this position will direct, manage and control all commercial, contractual and technical activities related to the site based components of the Underground Mine Expansion Program. This position will be working under the direction of the VP – Underground Mines. In addition, incumbent will prioritize all short/medium term scheduling, as well as coordinate with Corporate Project Management personnel.
Additional responsibilities:
Interface with the VP Underground Mines to ensure that all associated underground development and construction is consistent with current best practices. Maximize commonality with existing equipment procedures and processes.
Outline, manage and control the site based budget, including the cost control process, cash flow forecast and final cost forecasting of the project. Ensure all expenditures help meet the overall project goals.
Develop and implement a Training & Development program that will improve employee skill levels. Promote the development of the local (Papuan) workforce in trades, supervision and management, skill flexibility of the workforce, expatriate/national counterpart programs and accountability for roles and responsibilities.
Direct, communicate and oversee the company’s safety, health & environmental policies and procedures implementation. This will include conducting safety meetings, so to promote subordinate awareness of safety and environmental issues; especially while working in an underground environment.
Manage, direct and control all commercial, contractual and technical activities to ensure schedule is achieved through the safe and effective completion of milestones and evaluate forecasts of progress relative to targets.
Interface and act as liaison with NOLA, PHX and other off-shore based engineering groups; ensuring the consistency of project cost and schedule.
Establish and maintain business relationships with major internal departments, including: UG Engineering, UG Maintenance, Mill-Oreflow, UG Construction and the mine Deputy Technical Manager, as well as with major external departments, including: Safety, Material Management, Security and PT Redpath Indonesia.
Requirements:
Bachelor's in Engineering or closely related area - Master's or PHD preferred
Fifteen (15) years underground project experience. (Design, construction projects in mining and/or tunneling industry)
In-depth and broad knowledge of engineering, construction, operating and technical skills
Understand the implementation of development and construction plans for new underground mines
Proven performance with multi-disciplinary projects; exceeding targeted performance requirements for safety, environmental management, quality, quantity and cost
Ability to lead, motivate and direct a large workforce
Effective verbal and written communication skills
