Technical Marketing Manager (Projects )

A position exists within a developing division of a world leader in the steel industry, to expand sales of niche steel and metal products into civil, structural, infrastructure, industrial, mining and O&G projects in Australia and New Zealand.

The job holder will be required to formulate, agree and execute sales and marketing strategies to achieve target revenues and sales. To propose value added initiatives, propose resource increases and other business developments that will profitably support and enhance a position in the major projects sector. To take on a technical role within the projects department in providing application advice, product advantage, and input into design options to structural and civil project engineers across a broad range of the company’s products. To take active and definite steps to raise the company profile, reputation and credibility within the market. To provide sourcing opportunities from Australian manufacturing into the worldwide project market. Be required to monitor product developments and market price levels and adapt accordingly

Knowledge and Experience:
To succeed in this position a degree in Civil Engineering is essential, with also a minimum of 10 years experience in a similar steel trading or sales environment dealing with senior specifiers and Engineers. Possess a comprehensive technical and practical product knowledge covering a wide range of steel and other metal products, their specifications, end use. Have a knowledge of the characteristics of project selling and the key success factors. Experience and understanding of international trade practices. Considerable business acumen with a proven ability to create and maximise profit for the business and achieve planned objectives / targets. Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, written and verbally, have a developed cultural awareness to deal with customers and suppliers at all levels and nationalities. The ability to make sound commercial judgements and capable of identifying and expanding commercial opportunities

Salary
A$100 k + Negotiable
