Overall Responsibility:

• Responsible for leading a culture of Business Improvement
• Leading the development of efficient and effective mine site wide management systems
• Mapping and analysing the value drivers and capability for the business; planning
• Executing and managing risk mitigation and improvement initiatives to deliver business value
• The implementation of Business Improvement strategic objectives and tactics as set out by the corporate and regional BI team
• This position will also be involved in the enhancement of an effective strategic leadership team and in the design and implementation of the mine site strategic plans

Experience & Requirements:

• A degree in a business-related or technical discipline
• Extensive (10+ yrs) experience in a mining/heavy industry environment; with at least some time in a business analysis, systems improvement environment
• Demonstrated experience in managing change within large organisations
• Experience in managing a team to deliver agreed outputs
• Solid understanding and experience using continuous improvement techniques & methodologies
• Ability to facilitate and lead change in all areas and levels of the business
• Sound interpersonal skills especially in the areas of communication and group facilitation
• The ability to run basic cost models and business cases.
• Highly-motivated
• Solid Project Management Skills
• Demonstrated capacity to work within an open team environment
• Ability to liaise at all levels and to lead others with structured and factual argument
• Strong written communication and report writing skills
• Ability to develop and maintain competence with problem solving tools and methodologies associated with the Barrick Operating System;
• Ability to coach site management and improvement teams as required in the use of the CI framework, strategy, tools and methodologies.

The Locations:

Perth City – Regional Office CBD

The Regional Office provides technical and support services to all of the company’s mines in the region, together with a Shared Services Office, also located in Perth. Technical support functions include mining engineering, geology, metallurgy, geophysics and maintenance. Other support functions include Business Improvement, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Supply Chain. The company employs around 6,000 staff in the region and offers excellent remuneration, benefits, personal development and career opportunities.

Porgera (FIFO into PNG)

Barrick (Papua New Guinea) Limited, the operator of the Porgera Joint Venture (PJV) Mine, is part of the Barrick Gold Corporation group of companies which has interests in nine mines in Australia, the PJV mine in Papua New Guinea and exploration interests throughout the region. At an elevation in excess of 2100 meters and surrounded by limestone buttes the Porgera Valley has a year round temperate climate with an annual rainfall of approximately 3.5 meters.

Operating on a 8 days on, 6 days off roster commuting from Cairns, you will work as part of a highly trained, multicultural team on this exciting international project. PJV is based in the Highlands of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea and offers a unique and challenging work environment. The opportunity exists for you to relocate to Cairns and enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in a modern and dynamic city offering excellent educational facilities up to university level.

Kanowna (residential Kalgoorlie, Western Australia)

Is a residential operation and has a strong presence in the Eastern-Goldfields region of Western Australia centred on the in-land city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The Kanowna operation processes 2 million tonnes of refractory and free milling ore per annum from three underground mines in the region. It has significant exploration lease holdings and is one of the largest employers in the area.
