The Goonyella Riverside Mine is one of the largest open cut coal operations in the world. Located near Moranbah, a modern well-serviced town of over 10,000 people and approximately 2 hours drive from Mackay on the tropical coast, Goonyella Riverside Mine enables our employees to lead a lifestyle as rich as the careers we offer.
We presently have an opportunity for team orientated and results focused people to perform the role of an Open Cut Examiner. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and health of all persons and equipment in and around the mining operations.
Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Statutory inspections of the surface excavations and the part of the mine near the excavation where activities, including mining activities, are to be or are being carried out;
* Proactively identify and reduce unacceptable levels of risk;
* Active involvement in the site safety audits, inspections and investigations including assisting employees to develop appropriate corrective and preventative measures where appropriate
* Participate in developing and reviewing the site safety and health management system.
* Operating heavy machinery equipment onsite when you are not performing the duties of an open cut examiner.
To be successful in this role it is essential that you have an absolute commitment to work safely and comply with all site safety standards and mine working procedures, ensuring a safe and environmentally healthy workplace.
The successful person will be energetic and show initiative, with extensive experience working within open cut mining operations. You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be comfortable working as part of a highly focused team operating within a climate of continuous improvement.
The following certifications are required for this role:
* A current Open Cut Examiners ticket
* G2 and S1, S2, S3
* A current First Aid certificate
* Qualifications and experience operating heavy mining equipment would be highly regarded
