Cowal Gold Mine is located approximately 45 km. from West Wyalong in New South Wales. The mine currently produces 225,000 ounces each year from an open cut operation. Cowal employs more than 350 people onsite. It offers an ideal career, & safe, friendly country lifestyle experience, for singles and families. This is a residential position working 9 days on 5 days off work roster.

Position Overview:

The Mine Geologist is responsible for the planning, scheduling and direct supervision of the grade control function with the Cowal Geology Department.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Be conversant with the requirements of the monthly mining schedule regarding tonnages and grades of ore.

• Produce geological plans and maps.

• Ensure patterns are laid out when required to reduce disruption to mining operations and minimise drilling contractor standby.

• Supervise pit crew during sampling operations to ensure correct sampling and safe work practices are followed.

• Ensure grade control plans are promptly produced and interpretations undertaken utilising all existing geological information.

• Regularly sample all ore stockpiles.

• Properly supervise and ensure all grade control personnel and contractors comply with requirements regarding protective equipment and safe work practices.

Experience & Requirements:

• Three or four year degree in Geology. Eligibility for Institute membership.

• 3-5 years experience within an open pit mine geology environment.
