Position Synopsis
An excellent opportunity exists for a high calibre, safety focussed professional to lead our Port Health, Safety & Environment Department. This role will allow you to significantly impact HSE practices at our Port operations through your visible commitment to safety leadership, your ability to empower and motivate a team of talented HSE professionals and your drive for continuous improvement. As a key member of the Port Leadership Team, you will influence the development and execution of HSE strategy and business plans which is key to our commitment to dramatically increase output by 2015.
In your efforts to deliver on business outcomes, you will be expected to drive new behaviour, shape the culture of Zero Harm above all else, while bringing forth new initiatives within the HSE area.
Your core accountabilities will include:
* Leading safety standards & initiatives to achieve Zero Harm;
* Specifying department performance standards to ensure HSE strategies are aligned with business goals and objectives for the achievement of maximum productivity;
* Developing and maintaining an improvement strategy to ensure HSE Systems are optimally enhanced;
* Leading, coaching and mentoring Superintendents and other key personnel to implement HSE initiatives and programs; and
* Establishing effective performance metrics, and coordinating benchmarking and audits of Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
Skills and Experience
The individual we require is a superior performer with a hybrid of leadership, people management and HSE strengths. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health, Safety & Environment would we well regarded, however strong preference will be given to HSE professionals who have a background working in operational mining roles prior to their careers in HSE.
Most importantly, we are seeking a team player and a proven leader. Credible and positive, your excellent interpersonal skills will facilitate the building of productive relationships with a diversity of stakeholders, forging partnerships that enhance business outcomes.
