Position Overview:
Operating on a 30 days on, 12 days off roster commuting from Cairns, you will work as part of a highly trained, multicultural team on this exciting international project. The Porgera Joint Venture is based in the Highlands of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea and offers a unique and challenging work environment. At an elevation in excess of 2100 meters and surrounded by limestone buttes the Porgera Valley has a temperate climate all year round with an annual rainfall in excess of 3.6 meters.
DIAMOND DRILLER SUPERVISOR/TRAINER – 12 MONTH CONTRACT
The position
Reporting to the Underground Diamond Drill Supervisor, this role will be responsible for leading a team and providing hands-on training in a safe and efficient Diamond Drilling Program to achieve agreed outcomes. You will also be responsible for maintaining safe work practices including training of national drillers in safe and efficient diamond drilling practices.
The person
You must have experience as a Diamond Driller within an Underground Mining Operation with previous experience with drill muds and deep holes (1000m+), deep hole drilling and operation of LM90 and LMA90 drills. Previous training and supervisory experience is essential for this role, leadership and technical skills along with well developed communication skills and the ability to liaise at all levels.
You must be self-motivated and able to demonstration good operational judgement, with a decisive and results oriented nature. Previous experience working within a developing country is highly favourable. An on travel allowance will be provided to successful person residing outside of Cairns for the duration of the contract.
This challenging role requires you to engage with all people associated with the PJV Operations and to understand, learn from and share cultural differences. It is essential that you have the capability and desire to transfer skills and knowledge to a national workforce.
