Ore Processing Manager USA
The Kinross Gold Corporation is currently seeking to hire an Ore Processing Manager to lead the execution of the operations, long term efficiency and profitability of the mill and heap leach operations. This position is responsible for supervising a senior team including the Mill Superintendent, Heap Leach General Foreman, and Chief Metallurgist.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
To develop and operationalize long-term strategies for ore processing operations and to ensure the mine operation meets its strategic objectives
Develops and executes short and intermediate-term strategies that support the growth of ore processing operations
Ensures strategies are concretely linked to the organization’s long-term strategy
Sets priorities and allocates resources
Manages the human, financial, and operational resources of the ore processing group.
Formulates the annual operating and capital budgets for mill and heap leach operations consistent with established financial guidelines and business planning process
Participates with the Operations Manager and other senior staff to set production goals and policy for the mine and then direct the activities of the ore processing staff to achieve those production goals
Maintains costs within budget by controlling usage of labour, power, and supplies, while maintaining high productivity
Produces monthly reports for the ore processing department
To develop and implement business practices and policies within the ore processing group that align with the organization’s overall strategy
Implements processes, policies, systems, and practices within mill and heap leach operations that maximize operational efficiencies and competitive advantage
Acts as a change agent and project sponsor for key initiatives; models organizational values, sets the cultural tone, and prioritizes business goals
Implements strategies in all areas of process / mill to achieve production goals
Directs the Mill Operations, Heap Leach, Electrical and Maintenance general foreman in coordinating operations and maintenance of the mill and heap leach facilities
Directs the metallurgical accounting and testing activities and assay lab activities through the Chief Metallurgist and Chief Chemist
Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements:
BA or BSc degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering required or equivalent work experience
Formal professional designation in appropriate area of expertise
8 - 12 years of related work experience
Previous experience managing and training teams
Detailed knowledge of all phases of gold processing, including grinding and agitated leaching with cyanide, carbon absorption and regenerations, and refining
Previous experience imbedding a health and safety culture and executing zero tolerance to accidents in the workplace.
Previous experience leading ore processing operations, able to maximize operational efficiencies and profitability.
Previous experience leading the execution of the long-term strategy for moderately complex ore processing operations to include milling and heap leaching.
