Alcoa Davenport Works produces a wide range of aluminum parts that are rolled, milled, conditioned, heat treated, inspected, sometimes machined, packed, warehoused, and shipped out of the facility and/or local vendors.

The Central Maintenance Manager is accountable for results within the Central Maintenance Department in environmental compliance, health and safety of employees, productivity, asset management, people development, contracting-out, cost control, and quality, using lean manufacturing (ABS) concepts and systems such as TPM, daily management, 5S, etc. He/she is also responsible for supervision of employees and effective utilization of equipment in all central shops, Mechanical and Electrical Utilities, Stores, Truck Repair, Furnace Quality Assurance, Craft and Mobile Equipment Training, Quality Systems, and Reliability. The Central Maintenance Manager will lead development and implementation of plant-wide maintenance systems, processes, and resources across all maintenance areas.

The Central Maintenance Manager will engage the resources at his/her disposal to meet the focused department objectives set by the executive managers in support of the business objectives. These objectives will be achieved without sacrificing a spirit of cooperation with other areas, so as not to impact detrimentally the vitality of Davenport Works.

The Central Maintenance Manager:
- recognizes that accident prevention is equal in importance to production, quality, delivery and cost control, and accepts the responsibility to work safely and promote safety consciousness among fellow employees.
- is responsible for taking action to ensure that all employment practices under his/her control, including hiring, promotions, demotions, and discipline are conducted in compliance with equal employment opportunity laws and Alcoa policy with regard to race, gender, religion, national origin, age, sexual orientation, or physical ability.
- is accountable for coordinating plant-wide maintenance systems and processes, and sharing of resources across all maintenance areas.
- leads the Maintenance Joint Contracting-Out Committee to ensure compliance with the Contracting-Out Process.
- ensures consistent implementation and execution of policies and systems in his/her focused area of responsibility in order to guarantee customer (internal and external) expectations are met at the lowest cost and always with safety at the forefront of every activity.
- develop the behavioral competencies of General Supervisors in his/her focused area. This is realized through technical expertise, guidance, support, coaching, counseling, and leadership in the day-to-day performance of maintenance activities.
- sets expectations, audits performance, counsels General Supervisors, trains, acts as a role model, and influences policy and practices to exceed department goals. This includes safety, quality, productivity, continuous improvement and overall employee morale, with the main objective of complete customer satisfaction along with responsible management of the department's spending and assets.
- has responsibility for development of maintenance strategies, training programs for development of skilled crafts, and five-year resource planning for the entire Maintenance Department.
- ensures consistent application of rules and regulations across his/her respective department. This may include: negotiating local agreements with the unions, issuing discipline, and managing overtime levels, to name a few.
- will be a member of departmental and plant-wide committees as is necessary.
- will be accountable for developing and achieving the Central Maintenance budget and critical Business Plan metrics in all aspects (including cost, productivity, planning, preventive and predictive maintenance, etc).
- is accountable for coordinating the shared maintenance processes between the Manufacturing, Engineering, and Central Maintenance departments.
- is responsible for leading Kaizen, TPM, and safety events in his/her respective areas. The General Supervisors will be responsible for coaching and counseling of the Unit Supervisors, Technicians, Planners, and any other staff personnel in their area.

- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
- Minimum eight (8) yrs of maintenance experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting
- Minimum five (5) years of management experience
Experience working in a union environment.
