We are assisting our client in the recruitment of a Technical Services Superintendent for a small open cut coal mine in the northern end of the Bowen Basin. Whilst the mine is operated by one of the larger mine contractors, our client still has a presence in key roles such as the role of Technical Services Superintendent.
The Technical Services Superintendent will positively impact the operation's productivity and competitiveness in the marketplace through effectively managing the mine contractors in the technical services team, focussing on strategy, continuous improvement and safety. This is a multi-focussed role where you will be engaged in the strategic direction of the mine, optimising performance and maximising the mines life and resource recovery.
Reporting to the Mine Manager you will be responsible for:
Developing business plans and strategic mine plans to optimise the performance of the site
Providing strong leadership and mentoring to senior members of the technical services team
Contractor management
Managing the production of budgets and forecasts
Provide expert advice and recommendations to the Mine Manager
Stepping into the role of Senior Site Executive (when required)
To be successful in this role you must:
Have tertiary qualifications in mining engineering, geology or related discipline
Demonstrated background in open cut mining within the technical services team
The ability to manage a team of professionals including mentoring and motivation
Be decisive and accountable for business decisions
Have all round knowledge of engineering, geology and surveying
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, fostering positive relationships between mine owners and mine operators
