Port Planning Engineer

Our client is a leading international engineering company who operate a Maritime division fast becoming a market leader in the region. In recent years the group has been responsible for the design of over $500M of port infrastructure and has even larger project currently in planning. International major port work has also been carried out in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

The value of present resource projects under construction or in planning in WA is in excess of $100 billion. Many of these require either major upgrades to port infrastructure or the construction of new ports.

This position reports to Industry Director Maritime
Position is responsible for Planning and design management of port infrastructure & bulk ports.

Overview of Role:
Lead and manage project teams
Provide consultancy services within the port industry, including major port strategy plans, master plans, design of bulk port facilities, dredged channels and coastal works
Take responsibility for project delivery
Build and maintain sustainable client relationships
Form part of the Maritime Sector leadership team in Perth.

Person Specification:
High level of technical abilities, in port planning and/or port engineering and/or port infrastructure design management
Well respected in the port industry
Significant experience in providing consulting services
A sound track record of successful client management and business development
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good team leadership skills

The role is based in Perth - the capital of Western Australia (WA) with a population of about 1.5M people. The economy in WA is enjoying an unprecedented boom which is driven by the ever increasing demand from China for resources. WA is the world s largest mining economy and a leading exporter of bulk products such as:
Iron Ore Nickel- Alumina-LNG/LPG and condensate-Grain-Mineral Sands-
WA is also a major producer of high value mining products such as gold and diamonds.
