Position Summary
This position handles coordination of the Mill Mechanical Group resources for maintenance of Mill process equipment and facilities, with mechanical support in others areas as required.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Position
Direct supervision of mill mechanical group for capacity maintenance of mill process systems and equipment and other areas assigned by management.
Ensures maintenance efficiencies and performance in cooperation with Mill Operating Group.
Track associated costs for maintenance of systems; budget and scheduling involvement.
Provide priority directions to mechanical group in conjunction with mill operations and other groups as required.
Schedule mechanical group’s daily work to ensure maximum utilization of resources and meet operational requirements; utilize backlog for assignments and update as jobs are completed.
Work with Maintenance Planner and Superintendent to meet immediate and long term maintenance requirements and goals in support of production goals.
Maintain group work schedules to support operations and maintenance requirements.
Ensure record keeping of maintenance systems and reporting, in conjunction with Maintenance Clerk.
Continually address maintenance parts required for efficient equipment servicing/repairs; coordinates with purchasing and warehousing.
Perform technician evaluations annually and makes recommendations as needed.
Measure maintenance performance as required by the Maintenance Superintendent.
Provide support in obtaining and presenting necessary equipment cost studies and comparisons.
Provide safety training, performs job observations as required, and reviews safe work practices to technicians as needed.
Other duties may be assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be frequently required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; use hand and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees may be frequently exposed to underground work environments; outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is usually very loud. This position may require work on nights, weekends and rotating shifts; shift schedules may require residency in on-island camp during work rotations.
Education Requirements
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Equivalent experience may be acceptable to meet degree requirements.
Experience
Prefer 1-4 years experience in mineral processing facility preferred.
