Signals Engineer

We are now seeking a motivated and safety conscious individual to actively provide BHPBIO railroads with supervision of all signalling projects and renewals necessary to ensure that the signals systems operate in a safe and efficient manner. This role reports directly to the Signals Superintendent.

Position Synopsis

Operating in a climate of continuous improvement, your key accountabilities will include:

* Manage signalling project improvements within the S&C department;
* Interface with major contracting groups (internal and external) to ensure signalling projects are aligned with long term goals and operational requirements;
* Analyse equipment failure trends and recommend replacement of signalling equipment and or components;
* Major role in planning, programming, replacement and upgrading of signalling equipment;
* Carry out end to end testing on signal infrastructure eg. Bell testing, function testing and field testing, and at the same time ensuring documentation is kept for all stages;
* Commission and test sites;
* Writing and reviewing drawings, procedures and specifications;
* Validation and verification of new signalling installations and modifications;
* Ensure works are completed on time and on budget;
* Ordering equipment and project resources;
* Ensure all project works on the signalling systems are conducted in accordance with BHPBIO policy and procedures;
* Relief callout (leave, training etc) as required to rectify signalling faults.

Your effective communication skills will be deployed to strengthen the team, by providing advice to fellow technicians, liaising constructively with other personnel while valuing their input and contribution.

You will display total commitment to a “zero harm” environment through your active participation and leadership in safety meetings and site safety programs. You will have a gift for careful analysis and effective problem solving, the proven ability to recognise areas for improvement and the initiative to propose solutions.

Skills and Experience

You will have completed a formal qualification in Signals Engineering or equivalent. In addition, you will hold a current ‘A’ Class drivers licence.

Location

This is a residential role based in Port Hedland, a town of approximately 15,000 thousand people. It has excellent sporting facilities that cater for a wide range of interests and age groups, two well-appointed shopping centres, and education services to senior level.

Full relocation and subsidised housing will be offered to the successful applicant.
