As Drill and Blast Superintendent you will be a key member of the mining department, with four direct reports, you will liase with the Technical services department and other mining teams with the goal of optimising the Drill and Blast process. This role is both influencial and crucial to the whole success of the mine, so as a result highly development leadership and coaching skills are essential. Other responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
Ensuring a safe working environment for all drill and blast personnel
Monitoring and reporting performance to senior management on a monthly basis
The planning and monitoring of overburden drill and blast operations.
Liaising with other departments to ensure schedules are meet, prioritising of work and effective communications are maintained.
Assisting with and leading continuous improvement projects as required
Your formal qualifications (or similar) in Mining Engineering or related discipline, coupled with previous experience in a supervisory capacity is essential for this role. In addition having solid exposure of drill and blast activities in open cut strip mining and sound knowledge of the open cut regulations regarding explosives will see you succeed in this position.
This is a Monday - Friday residential role based in a thriving community in Central Queensland in an ideal location near the Whitsunday coast. Unlike others this established township offers the kind of sports, education and recreation facilities usually associated with larger towns and cities.Housing is provided and a remuneration package will be negotiated during the interview process.
