Coal Geologist

Our client requires an experienced coal geologist for their Technical Services department, to provide geological support to the project team for field exploration, resource modelling and mine geology. The successful applicant will be able to communicate effectively in both Chinese and English (both verbal and written) and have experience in the preparation of technical reports. The position will require the ability to multi-task, prioritise and meet agreed deadlines.

This role includes a significant field component. It is estimated that 40% of the work will take place in the company’s Beijing offices, with 60% of time spent actively involved in coal exploration programs in the field. This is a permanent role and is offered as either a residential role, based in Beijing, or may be taken on a Fly-in Fly-out basis from your point of hire, on a four weeks on, two weeks off roster.

Key responsibilities of the role:

* Conduct exploration field work
* Prepare and manage project data including collection, validation, database administration, map preparation and storage, management of lease information in MapGIS.
* Liaise with analytical laboratory for sample preparation, delivery, analysis and reporting
* Development and maintenance of resource models, reconciliations and reporting
* Provision of support to the mine geology time as required

To be successful you will ideally possess the following:

* University degree in geology
* At least two years experience in an exploration/mining geology role
* Native speaker of either of English/Chinese language and formal language qualifications (or equivalent proficiency) in the other language
