Senior Coal Geologist

Our client requires a Senior Coal Geologist for their Technical Services department, to provide geological support and guidance to the project team. Reporting to the Chief Geologist, the Senior Coal Geologist will provide leadership to the project team for resource modelling/estimation and mine geology issues. The successful applicant will be able to communicate effectively in both Chinese and English (both verbal and written) and have experience in the preparation of technical reports on coal resources & reserves to Chinese and International Standards (JORC, NI43-101).

This Permanent role is mainly head office based. It is estimated that 80% of the work will take place in the company’s Beijing offices, with 20% of time spent in the field. This role is offered as either a residential role, based in Beijing, or may be taken on a Fly-in Fly-out basis from your point of hire, on a four weeks on, two weeks off roster.

Key responsibilities of the role:

* Development and maintenance of resource models, using the company’s preferred software suite.
* Reconciliations against the mine model
* Reporting of resources and reserves in accordance with appropriate international standards
* Provision of support to the mine geology time as required
* Management of a number of subordinate staff to ensure objectives of the operation are met
* Management and monitoring of budgets, financial reporting

To be successful you will ideally possess the following:

* University degree in geology
* At least five years experience in an exploration/mining geology role
* Prior coal experience
* Competence in the use of geological modelling software and the development of resource models.
* Native speaker of either of English/Chinese language and formal language qualifications (or equivalent proficiency) in the other language
