Our Coal Operations has a current opening for a: Senior Quality Engineer or Geologist
Reporting to the Manager, Rail Logistics and Production, primary focus of this role is to improve product quality consistency, and to ensure availability of inventory so as to satisfy customer demand. Functional responsibility will include coordinating with the mines, marketing department and port office to develop, implement and monitor blending strategies that meet our quality objectives and customer demand. This position also involves planning inventory availability and requirements over the immediate as well as the short term, current and 1 year, product blends.
Specific Accountabilities:
• Work with group to ensure uninterrupted supply of rail service for Mine
Production and Port Operations
• Member of Project One group for the development and implementation of the logistics and quality module, lead the rollout of the planning tool
• Work with the Senior Administrator of Logistics on mine component release and quality
• Represent Commercial Dept at weekly Mine quality meetings
• Mine Planning Software / Blending inter-phase: Coordinate with the Mine
Planning Departments and Calgary’s Engineering Department to standardize model input & output
The successful applicant will have an Engineering or Geology degree or equivalent relevant education. The ideal candidate will have five to eight years experience in Mining, Geology or Lab Management with related professional experience in product development matched with strong interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills. In addition, interested applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to ethical behaviors, business and marketing practices as well as a sound knowledge and understanding of the metallurgical coal market and its participants.
