Our Client:
Our client is a Canadian company with an asset in Mexico. The organization¡¦s mine is currently producing and continuing to go through further exploration expansion and mine development. The organization is currently seeking a Chief Geologist to join their team at the Mexico based operation site and location. This position would require relocation to Mexico or a rotational schedule. This position will manage all aspects of the underground development of the mining operation.
Reporting Structure:
This position will report to the Production Manager.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
„h Evaluate resources and prospective areas by collecting, reviewing and interpreting geological data.
„h Provide oversight for the development of infill drilling programs.
„h Update drillhole database, mine model and ultimately mine resources.
„h Provide expert technical guidance regarding underground development programs designed to identify new resources and expand current reserves.
„h Evaluate data from assigned areas and consult with operations staff on the interpretation of underground development results.
„h Assist in preparation of mine plans and grades.
„h Supervise all underground geological staff and provide direction to subordinates in leading them to achieve the goals of the department.
„h Responsible for establishing and managing staffing levels within the department.
„h Coordinate with Operations personnel to ensure effective planning and communication surrounding all geological activities.
„h Assist in the budget preparation for the department.
„h Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
„h Bachelor Degree in Geology, Relevant Masters Degree would be considered an asset.
„h 7 to 10 years of experience with Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide deposits (VMS).
„h Comfortable working in a computerized environment for resource modeling, calculation and ultimately mine plan grade estimation.
„h Strong team player.
„h Exception oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
„h Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
„h Spanish Fluency is essential. English speaking is considered an asset.
„h Previous experience in a supervisory role would be an asset.
