BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) are currently expanding production across our coal mining operations in order to meet increased market demand. Consequently we have a strong need to bring professional talent into the Company. The BMA Engineering Extension Program (EEP) is one of our key people strategies to recruit and develop the talent we need to consolidate the growth of our business. This Program is designed to provide professionals from a range of backgrounds and qualifications with exceptional technical and personal development to extend their existing knowledge and skills to become BMA Mining Engineers. The EEP provides a unique opportunity for you to chart a new career direction with Australia’s leading coal mining company and in the longer term with the BHP Billiton wider organisation.

Program structure:

• Structured field work experience over the first year of the program.

• Introduction to leading edge technology through internal and external training programs and on-the- job coaching.

• Post graduate education programs such as external studies for Graduate Diploma and/or Graduate course work programs in Mining Engineering or Mineral Processing Engineering.

• Quality and consistency of each individual’s professional development ensured by mentoring, progressive competency assessment and personal feedback processes.

• Appointment to an initial role with specific responsibilities at the commencement of the second year of the program, with mentoring and coaching throughout the year.

• Maintain a strip history for each strip and seam pass (quantities and rates versus actual; strip design and stripping method versus actual).

• Conduct regular field visits of mining operations to ensure high quality standards are being maintained and/or recommend opportunities to improve.

• Schedule mining activities to enable smooth and efficient operation of the mine (weekly updates in MS Project/Friday Plan/T&S Schedule).

• Monitor mining performance for use in the day to day and budget planning processes. Ensure that IMS inputs are up to date & accurate.

• Assist with the Twelve Week Roller, Short Range Forecast (SRF) preparation process as required.
