This is a newly created position within a highly successful Mining Contractor. The company has a comprehensive network of offices located throughout Australia and they also provide contract mining services to a number of international sites.

The Senior Mining Engineer will be based in the Perth office and will be responsible for overseeing a number of existing surface mining contracts. You will report to the Principal Mining Engineer and will be given the autonomy to assume key management responsibilities. These will include:

Provide support and mentoring to mining engineering teams (on-site)
Oversee on-site mining activities and manage client relationships to ensure agreed targets are achieved
Provide technical advice regarding operational issues & 'trouble-shooting'
Monitor progress claims and oversee production performance - including development & review of monthly reports
Assist with tender preparations and client presentations
The position will suit those offering a strong operational background and this must include significant experience within open-pit mines. Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering will also be essential, in addition to the following:

Extensive experience with the planning & 'trouble-shooting' for surface mines
High level of computer literacy
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage high-level client relationships
Exposure to tender preparations and contract mining environments
Some feasibility experience would be beneficial - mine design, cost analysis etc.
The position offers the opportunity to be based in Perth, although, some site travel will be required on an ad-hoc basis. A competitive salary reflecting your significant industry experience will be offered and it is expected this will be in the vicinity of $140K - $170K.
