One of our long-term mining clients has an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Mine Geologist to join their operations. The company has proven to be one of WA's most successful miners with strong production performance and continued growth throughout the recent economic challenges. The Mine Geologist - Surface reports to the Senior Mine Geologist and will work closely with the pit technicians and graduate geologists. It will be a 'hands-on' position that involves all aspects of daily production duties (surface) as well as providing the opportunity to play an active role in various mine-based projects. Your key areas of responsibility will be to minimise dilution and ensuring ore blends are managed to target criteria. You will also gain experience with blast designs, monthly reconciliations, production calculations, 3D modelling and extensive use, including training, with a number of software packages (Surpac, Excel, MapInfo).
It is essential that you offer a genuine passion for mine geology, ideally with a keen interest in developing your skills within an open-pit environment. Previous experience with iron ore will be an advantage, however, those with previous grade-control and/or blending experience will be considered. A high level of initiative and a willingness to play an active role in all aspects of daily site work will be essential.
A salary package of $85K - $100K + Bonus/Allowances will be offered on a FIFO basis from Perth.
