Roster: Fly in / Fly Out - 6 weeks on with one day of rest followed by 2 weeks off.

Position Overview:
The Piping Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the piping engineering initiatives and activities that need to be incorporated into the construction phase of the Project. The incumbent will ensure that all piping based initiatives are implemented as required through to and including commissioning.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Review all relevant consultant specifications and drawings to ensure that piping best practice is adopted during the construction of the systems and equipment. This will include site developed drawings as well as review of Vendor drawings, thorough checking of all IFC drawings.
• Ensure the engineering aspects of the scope of work of the project are clearly defined and are checked and approved by the General Contractor with continuity back to the subcontractors.
• Always be aware of any Hazardous operations and monitor risk assessments of the work, ensuring that practical knowledge from operations experience are applied where appropriate.
• Develop appropriate baseline condition monitoring data collection processes and acceptance testing criteria for piping systems. It is imperative that appropriate baseline data is collected during commissioning, is well documented, and the data is appropriately stored into the Operations Maintenance History database (i.e. Oracle Maintenance module).
• Manage and audit suppliers of CM / NDT / QA services as required such that critical baseline data is collected during and after commissioning of the plant. The incumbent will play a key role in development of the ultimate Commissioning Plan, ensuring the Owner team’s requirements are well documented and represented in these plans. This is also a critical component to validating site inspections and compliance to specifications during the testing and commissioning phases.
• Audit any consultant’s designs and insure they are independently checked for design principles and compliance with statutory authority requirements and are in accordance with asset criticality where appropriate.
• Maintain a continuous review of the performance of the consultant’s team.
• Work closely with the Oracle implementation project team to ensure that inputs and configuration of the Oracle Maintenance module is best practice.
• Operate within the Project budget for the Engineering and Procurement Group. This will involve reviewing of the consultant's estimate of man-hours to complete works in each monthly report to assess whether the forecasts are accurate. This will include close contact with the Owner’s Project Controls Manager to ensure that the progress monitoring methods and procedures are adequate for piping components of the project.
• Frequently communicate piping activities and initiatives.
• Prepare contributions to the month end reports as required for the Engineering and Procurement Manager.
• Overview the final preparation, submission, approval and distribution of “as constructed” documentation by the contractor as well as input to the project Operations and Maintenance Manuals.

Qualifications:

Education
Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical or Process Engineering). Completion of specialized training in piping engineering concepts and methodology preferred.

Experience
10+ years supervisory experience in a piping construction engineering environment. Quality control / Quality Assurance experience and knowledge a plus.


Skills & Abilities
• Proven track record developing and implementing piping engineering best practice initiatives.
• Experience should demonstrate ability to train and develop others to follow and maintain processes and systems established.
• Must be proficient in the use of piping software systems.
• Willing to travel as required.
• Above average communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English.
• Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
