Hope Downs 4 is Rio Tinto Iron Ore's latest Greenfield mine, situated approximately 35km north-west of Newman. Hope Downs 4 is a joint venture between Rio Tinto and Hancock Prospecting, 100% operated by Rio Tinto, producing 15Mtpa Saleable Ore Product with a life span of 14 years. With initial operational pre-strip works planned to commence during July 2012, Hope Downs 4 is now recruiting for an experienced Human Resources Advisor to join the team. The role will be based in Perth until the end of 2012 as part of the Operational Readiness team before transitioning to an attractive 8 days on / 6 days off lifestyle roster, fly in fly out from Perth. This is an exciting and rare opportunity that will allow you to be involved in starting up a mine from the very beginning, and assisting in shaping it to become a highly efficient operation that others wish to be a part of. Reporting to the Hope Downs 4 Human Resources Superintendent, the Human Resources Advisor will provide professional advice and support to the leadership team and employees of the Hope Downs 4 Operation, and will ensure the fair and consistent application of HR policies, procedures and processes. Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist to coordinate recruitment activities including remuneration advice and approvals.
- Act as the site liaison for all recruitment related queries.
- Action relevant administrative and transactional HR related processes such as employee condition changes and development of the organisational structure.
- Provide advice and support to the Hope Downs 4 leadership team on appropriate organisational design and team structures to meet business objectives.
- Assist the HR Superintendent to implement the Hope Downs 4 diversity strategy involving the sourcing, recruitment, and retention of aboriginal and female employees.
To be successful in this role, you will have a degree qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in the HR field. Generalist experience in HR and/or recruitment, and the ability to work autonomously is essential for this role. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
