Position Summary:

Contribute to the success of Peabody’s mining operations by providing engineering services for the design and construction of new mining facilities and upgrades to existing facilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

• Contribute to the overall effectiveness of mining facilities by providing civil, mechanical and structural engineering support in the design and construction phases of projects. 
• Assists the mining operations in the development of facilities by providing conceptual drawings, preliminary & detailed engineering designs, cost estimates and projected construction schedules for proposed construction projects. 
• Provide engineering assistance during planning of construction projects by coordinating bid packages, obtaining quotes from machinery manufacturers, communicating with vendors, obtaining and evaluating bid proposals and procurement of mechanical and structural items. 
• Contribute to reduction of fabrication and erection problems and additional costs by reviewing structural consultant's designs for coal-handling facilities. 
• Contributes to the adherence to the approved project budget by developing accurate plans, specifications, and cost estimates. 
• Ensure continual operation of coal-handling systems by providing technical support to mine personnel in solving civil, mechanical, and structural issues that occur. 
• Assist in managing archives/databases of historical engineering, technical, and project documentation. 
• Collaborate with other departments and personnel to ensure all engineering aspects of projects are according to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements of the Position:

• B.S. Degree in mining, civil, mechanical or structural engineering. 
• Three to five years of experience in engineering design and/or construction. 
• Knowledge and experience with material handling system design. 
• Registration as a Professional Engineer or ability to become registered. 
• Working knowledge of Autocad and SurvCadd(Civil Module). 
• Travel up to 25% required (mostly domestic, but potential for some international)
