Commercial Manager, Drilling Services
Mississauga, Ontario (relocation assistance provided)

Job Summary

You will work with customers to develop and cultivate sales of Boart Longyear Drilling Services and to maximize market penetration. You will also interface with managers to satisfy customer needs and to achieve revenue and margin objectives.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Zone managers and their staff on bids and other business opportunities to maximize revenue, margin and drive price realization in the region using market intelligence and sales trend information
• Develop and maintain regional market intelligence and sales performance data (price elasticity), work with regional and global organizations to leverage this information to improve business performance and growth opportunities
• Work with Contracts Manager to coordinate these activities on key accounts
• Achieve market share objectives with major mining companies in the region
• Manage global client relationships with major mining companies headquartered in the region
• Facilitate global client relationships with Boart Longyear headquarters and other business units and provide coordination as needed to grow global market share
• Facilitate the development of new drilling services business in the region between customers and regional zone DS zone operations in order to maximize revenue growth and fully utilize assets
• Develop and maintain close relationships with key customer accounts to assure that customer needs are fully understood and satisfied in order to achieve and maintain desired market penetration
• Maintain detailed information on regional marketplaces, including: customers, competitors, political and economic factors etc... Assess trends and report market development. Work with drilling services business units and management to assure that Boart Longyear services offerings meet the ongoing needs of the served markets
• Meet regularly with key accounts and other customers in the region
• Develop forecasts of drilling requirements and work with International Drilling Services Operations Director and Zone Managers to schedule equipment to maximize sales opportunities, rig utilization and zone contribution.
• Work with Zone managers and general management staff to accurately forecast sales in the region
• Provide weekly sales and lost sales reporting and market intelligence. Trend regional prices, competitive pressures and market dynamics. Work with GM in contributing to divisional sales and marketing strategy
• Manage regional promotional efforts for Drilling Services. Participate in trade shows, coordinate regional advertising efforts with Marketing Communications.

Qualifications

• B.A. degree, preferably in Engineering, Business or Finance
• 10+ year's previous experience in mining, sales, key account management, contract management and negotiation
• Excellent customers relations, contacts and industry knowledge
• Exceptional analytical & project management skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
• Strong problem solving aptitude
• Exceptional influence management skills. Ability to manage cross-functional resources without direct reporting relationships
• Excellent communication skills - both formal and informal. Ability to communicate within all levels of the organization.
