 Barrick is a leading international gold mining company, with a portfolio of 27 operating mines, seven advanced exploration and development projects located across five continents, and a large land position on the world’s best exploration belts. Lumwana Mining Company located in Zambia is wholly owned by Barrick Gold Corporation and operates one of the largest new copper mines to be developed globally over the last decade.   The mine is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Mining Operations Superintendent to coordinate safe and efficient mining practices at the open pit Lumwana Project to a standard that is compatible with international practice.  The appointee will report to the Mining Manager and will be responsible for the following duties and activities:   Position Overview: The Mining Superintendent is responsible for maintaining safe and efficient mining operations. As an innovative professional, you will look beyond traditional thinking to foster a culture of excellent and continual improvement.   Duties & Responsibilities: ·         Lead the Mining Department’s operational team to meet and exceed key performance targets. ·         Support and provide input into the Budget, Strategic Business Plan, Tactical Planning and other Business Improvement Projects ·         Conduct open pit inspections, accident investigations, training and mentoring of Mining employees ·         Ensure safety and environmental standards are met ·         Ensure all targets are met including tonnage, grade and budget costs ·         Provide cover for other managers on leave or R&R   Requirements: ·         First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate is preferred ·         Experience in open pit/ core hard rock operations ·         Excellence in strategic business improvement initiatives ·         Superior technical and troubleshooting skills ·         A proven track record in leading, motivating and directing teams ·         Demonstrated success with problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills combined with project management experience will make you a strong candidate for this role.   Apply: Lumwana operation is fly in/fly out rotational or residential opportunity, FIFO is 6/3 weeks and residential 5/2 days.  On-site accommodation, including all messing facilities, is provided.  Recreational activities include satellite television, swimming pool, gymnasium and golf driving area.
