Summary:
The Mining Estimator will apply methodologies, in order to schedule duration and task dependencies for the scope of work required in the preparation of cost estimates and proposal submissions.

General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Analyze drawings, designs, specifications and tender documentation to prepare schedules, cost estimates and bid documents
- Schedule critical path activities for project
- Modify schedules and work plans to suit project managers’ review
- Apply labour, equipment and material requirements to each estimate
- Solicit quotations from vendors and subcontractors. Consult with vendors and specialists to discuss and formulate estimates
- Determine performance capabilities with detailed cycle time calculations. Adjust theoretical calculations to reflect historical performance achieved
- Interface with other individuals in the organization to obtain their contributions to the cost estimates
- File and store supplier/manufacturer information in a centralized cost estimating database. Conduct time studies at project sites and correlate data transfer
- Utilize the company-wide estimate software (Bid2Win) to compile estimates and resource allocation
- Utilize spreadsheet, word processing, scheduling and presentation software
- Prepare all tenders in accordance with the “Bidding Process”
- Assist the Proposal Coordinator in meeting the deliverable requirements of all tender submissions
- Prepare back-up estimates and store originals and copies as per procedure
- Where time permits, assist and support project management to ensure continuity between tender, construction and project completion
- Be prepared to travel for site visits/inspections, work in branch or joint venture partner offices. Travel may include overseas assignments. Travel period may range from one day to several weeks.

Computer Applications:
The incumbent must:
- Be willing to learn and utilize Bid2Win Estimating Software.
- Be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, MSProject and Powerpoint softwares. Use of AutoCAD is an asset

Qualifications/Education/Certifications/Experience:
- Degree from a recognized university or diploma from college program relevant to the areas of responsibility
- Must have a minimum of 5-7 years mining industry experience with a portion of time spent in the role of estimator, scheduler, contracts administrator and or feasibility engineer.
- All certification required to represent the company in a safe and knowledgeable manner in the workplace including but not limited to WHIMS, Ontario Common Core Modules 1 & 2(minimum), Norcat Training.
- Experience with underground mines is critical

Skills & Abilities:
Must be able to work in a position of trust, in a highly confidential area of business. Must be able to meet strict deadlines, work under pressure and have strong analytical skills. Will liaison with clients, subcontractors and internally with the engineering, finance and operations groups. The position requires a general knowledge of provincial and federal mining acts and regulations.
