Hoistpersons Various Sites across Canada

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
In coordination with other crew members the Hoistperson follows job procedures and regulations to perform the tasks required in a safe and effective manner.
General duties and responsibilities include:
 Understand the company policies and works in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
 Fully support and actively participates in the site safety program.
 Communicate status of the hoist, conveyances and shaft with cross shift Hoistperson at shift change.
 Ensure that any equipment deemed damaged or unsafe by virtue of a defect, or any protection system is inoperative, is not used, be communicated to the shaft leader, shaft superintendent and or the night captain.
 Work closely with other shaft crew members to create and maintain in a synergy required to accomplish the shift lineup in the cycle.
 Ensure applicable procedures and work standards for all tasks are understood adhered to and complied at all time.
 Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in their workplace.
 Read and become familiar with all recent entries in log books.
 Perform all daily checks on operating hoists, including brakes, overwinds and track limits, as required.
 Conduct trial trips, as required.
 Record results of all tests in Hoistperson log book.
 Operate the hoist under the direction of the authorized person giving signals.
 Operate the stage winches under the direction of the authorized person giving signals.
 Other duties as required and as qualified.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Full Basic Common Core
Experience: 3 years related work experience
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
 Good communication skills and ability to work with others
 WHMIS
 Strong organization Skills
 Able to work in a team environment, be self-motivated and enthusiastic
