Job description:

The role of the Electrical Maintenance Technician is to assist in the development of systems and processes that drive highly effective maintenance performance, provide highly developed expertise to solve difficult equipment problems, support tactical repair activities where higher level equipment knowledge is required, participate in the identification of strategic plans to ensure world class equipment reliability, and develop craft resources and crew leaders to be capable first reponders to correct equipment malfunction or failure.

The Maintenance Technician is considered the local expert on the equipment within their area of assignment, and must either have demonstrated capability unique to the equipment or be capable of quickly assimilating new information to become expert in a relatively short period of time.

Specifically, the Maintenance Technician will:
• Set an impeccable example with respect to safe behavior, adherence to Environmental, Safety, and Health policies, and activities linked to the performance of maintenance work without incident or injury.
• Champion a high performance maintenance philosophy and implement the maintenance strategic plan to ensure cost effective asset management, long term equipment viability, and ongoing improvement of the maintenance systems and organization.
• Understand and use defined metrics that enable tracking of performance and progress towards achieving department goals.
• Provide technical expertise to the Organization on equipment capabilities and functionality.
• Maintain a working understanding of current technologies that have potential to improve the equipment or areas supported and provide input to capital project planning targeted at equipment improvement.
• Provide highly developed, technical assistance to craftspeople and engineers during both planned and unplanned equipment service interruptions.
• Mentor and lead technical skills development for the crafts persons and crew leaders in the department. Develop system specific training materials and use those materials to conduct formal classroom training and experiential learning in the field. Where applicable, be prepared to extend this training to other areas within the facility or the Company.
• Initiate, develop, and manage small formal activities to improve system reliability or maintenance team effectiveness.
• Review the preventative and predictive maintenance systems to ensure that the defined activities are sufficient to identify potential sources of failure before failures occur.
• Develop technical documentation for processes and procedures in the area. (Work Instructions (WIP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Energy Isolation Checklists (EIC))
• Apply root cause problem solving techniques to find and eliminate sources of recurring equipment failures. Use the established methods found within the Alcoa Business System to coordinate problem solving activities.
• Interface with other members of the support team to identify and capture opportunities for improvement.
Associate's Degree plus 3-5 years of experience in an industrial setting. The ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.Bachelor's Degree plus 5+ years of experience in an industrial setting
