The Hemlo Operations, a Barrick Gold/Teck Cominco joint venture company located near Marathon, Ontario has an opportunity for an:
Fire Assayer
As a member of the Assay Laboratory, you will participate in assay activities related to the support of a 10000 tonnes per day milling and mining operation. You will possess good interpersonal skills, and can adapt easily and quickly to changes within a fast paced mining environment.
Reporting to the Chief Chemist, the Fire Assayer will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of three fire assay furnaces.
Preferred qualifications include:
Graduate of secondary school Grade 12
Previous fire assay experience in a gold or precious metals lab
Strong organizational skills
Ability to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Computer skills relating to the use of databases and correct entry of data
Ability to work a 12 hour shift schedule
