An exciting opportunity has become available for a MARC Project Co-ordinator with a multinational mining client in Africa.
Objectives of the position:
Ensure safe work practices are observed by the contractor, and implemented in the department of responsibility
Manage a Supplier maintenance and repair contract for mobile mining equipment as per the contract documents that make up the agreement
Ensure the contractor operates to the guidelines within the agreement/contract, and to site policies and standards.
Ensure the preparation and execution of maintenance plans and schedules on the basis of daily, weekly and monthly mining priorities are completed by the contractor for mobile fleet under the MARC.
Ensure all historical data from the maintenance contract is maintained on company's own maintenance management system.
Supervising, training, developing and nationalisation of a small contract management team.
End of month reporting of maintenance performance against plan for the contract.
Ensure maintenance costs are kept to, or below assigned budget as per agreed MARC rates.
Ensure monthly reconciliation of MARC costs are managed and forwarded to Finance for payment
Ensure the contractor displays a sense of urgency to ensure timely repair and maintenance of mine equipment under the MARC.
Ensure the contractor provides a quality customer service to the mine operations department.
Key skills and minimum requirements:
Trade or technical certificate level qualification
Experience in large open cut and/or underground mining operation or large scale civil engineering projects
Experience with managing to contract documents, and holding the Supplier accountable to contractual performance.
Minimum of eight (8) years experience in a mine and/or mineral processing maintenance supervisory role
Expatriate experience in a developing country
Good working knowledge of maintenance planning techniques/software
Experienced in current maintenance practices and techniques
Good computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite: dBase, word processing, spread sheeting and the site based CMMS (Pronto)
Strong communication and English speaking and writing skills
Sound knowledge of mining operations
A sound knowledge of cost control
Interpersonal skills
Ability to train less experienced members of the staff
Ability to liaise and promote liaison between maintenance contractors and mining personnel
Demonstrable ability to work effectively in a team environment
Single status appointment. US$ remuneration and expatriate benefits. Very attractive FIFO roster.
