Safety Coordinator - Underground
The Pend Oreille Mine is seeking a Safety Coordinator to provide training, first response, firefighting and industrial hygiene services to the operation. This position is for one of two safety professionals at the site.
Primary responsibilities include:
Conducting regular underground inspections of work areas, including contractors, and correcting unsafe practices and conditions; reporting issues to supervisors and management
Administering safety and hygiene programs by participating in the development of standards and assisting with implementation of approved elements
Training employees to work in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations; ensuring employees maintain required qualifications
Motivating employees to work efficiently to acceptable standards and providing feedback through performance appraisals
Providing effective communications to supervisors, peers, and subordinates
Assisting with coordination of Mine Rescue training and competition.
Certification to train MSHA surface and underground, first aid, mine rescue and CPR will be given preference.
