Under the direction of the Procurement and Logistic Superintendent, the Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and management of the flow of all material dedicated to the mining operations of Meadowbank Division in Nunavut. The candidate will develop and coordinate a system of tracking and expediting all freight movement to site and will be responsible to evaluate and plan deliveries to meet barging shipping schedules. Establishing major transportation and freight forwarding contracts and long-term consolidation and transfer points is also its responsibility. The Logistics Coordinator will negotiate charters for personnel and freight rates with customers and suppliers, will manage commercial invoices and will analyze logistical problems and provide solutions. The candidate we are looking for has a minimum of four (4) years experience in logistics and transportation. Work experience in a northern environment is an asset. The position will work out of the Abitibi region on a regular work schedule and occasionally will be required to spend time at the mine site.
Meadowbank Division is located in the Nunavut territory at approximately 70 kilometers north of Baker Lake Community. The site’s construction is in progress and the commercial exploitation should start in the beginning of 2010. Once the production’s started, this division will employ about 400 persons.
