Full Description:
Contract management level position in the copper mining sector in the Dem Rep of the Congo.
Annual Salary: US$140,000-160,000 (Tax Free) depending on skills and experience plus 20% Bonus.
Date required: Urgent start.
Position reports to: Open Pit Mining Manager
Grade: 3
This is a single status position. Also a residential position as opposed to a fly-in-fly-out position. Ample leave is provided for with a travelling allowance paid per annum in addition to the annual package specified.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• 8+ years proven experience in open pit copper mining and or project engineering
• Mining Engineering Degree
• French Language Skill an advantage
• Physically fit to handle long hours and demanding work schedule.
• Full Clean Driving License
KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Plan, organize and direct daily operations,
• Advise senior management of daily/monthly activity
• Oversee analysis of data and information
• Recommend operational changes to ensure that production quotas and procedures are met
• Determine adequacy of personnel, equipment and technologies used for operations
• Prepare work schedules
• Knowledge of exploration methods, reserve and resource estimation, mine design, production scheduling, equipment selection and maintenance development
KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• Attention to detail and analytical skills
• Knowledge of Mine Safety requirements & Open Pit Mining methods and procedures
• Awareness of influencing environmental factors
• Ability to work effectively as a team member with minimal supervision; superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to assess for continuous improvement of the open pit mining operations with the ultimate goals of increasing production, reducing risk and reducing costs while also providing a mentorship role to the national staff.
