Calgary Office has a current opportunity for a:
Marketing & Logistics Analyst
This is one year temporary contract; the incumbent will collect and analyze relevant transportation and logistics data to be used in evaluating current cost, supply, demand and opportunities, as well as tactical operational improvement opportunities for the Company. The successful applicant will assist in the preparation for commercial negotiations with transportation suppliers and will coordinate operational process improvements. The position will at times require involvement in day to day operational coordination and decision making.
Specific Accountabilities
Accurate delivery and communication of monthly logistics report;
Maintaining and updating file system for rail files;
Weekly detailed department report;
Lead and facilitate weekly logistics department meeting;
Administration of current and new contracts;
Present analysis findings in a cohesive format to assist the decision making process.
Recommend appropriate sources of data and knowledge, including 3rd party analyses & reports, conferences, regional presence, etc.
Seek and factor into the model data and knowledge from internal sources, including front-line marketers, technical marketers, etc.
Responsible for certain aspects of rail fleet management
Develop business cases for capital projects
Various and as assigned project work relating to the Logistics function.
Qualifications
Business, Commerce, Engineering, or Economics degree
High proficiency level in Excel and in creating Word/PowerPoint communication documents
Determination and capability to apply creativity and initiative in finding data and information
Ability to proactively use information sources, such as internet and databases, to perform research that includes advanced data mining and screening analyses
Ability to meet and work directly with Transportation services suppliers
Interest in operational aspects of the business
Problem solving skills
Project management capabilities
