Fortescue is undertaking a transformative expansion program to triple our production to 155 million tonnes per annum by mid 2013. Our plans involve expanding our port and rail operations, upgrades to our existing mines and the construction of an exciting new mine called Solomon.  

Logistics Officer

Fortescue Metals Group is seeking a Logistics Officer to join their busy Procurement team on the Solomon project. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this position is vital to maintaining delivery schedules and resolving supply matters. Responsibilities

• Liaise with contractors regarding incoming goods and maintain delivery schedules
• Liaise with internal/external departments including Supply Chain
• Consolidating, maintaining, auditing and monitoring existing field equipment as well as the acquisition of major field items
• Co-ordination with the Project leads and logistics and field coordinators regarding fleet vehicles and mobile equipment
• Issuing and monitoring of work clothing, specialised PPE and materials across the project
• Organising freight and couriers services to and from from Perth depot

Qualifications / Experience Desired

• 3 - 5 yrs relevant experience in logistics activities
• Freight experience, mostly road
• Advanced Word and Excel skills
• Exceptional organisational and multitasking skills
• Strong communication skills
• Lateral thinking, resourcefulness and good negotiation skills
