Mechanical Technician - Fixed Plant

Osborne Mines is a remote location, approximately 200 kilometres south-east of Mount Isa in North West Queensland. The Osborne copper/gold deposit incorporates underground and open cut mining, a mineral processing plant and supporting infrastructure. The Osborne project operates on a fly-in/fly-out basis from Townsville working an 8 days on, 6 days off roster.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Fixed Plant Team Leader, the Mechanical Technician Fixed Plant will be responsible for maintenance of our Fixed Plant, which includes Concentrator, Bore fields, Winder (double drum, single clutch) and Crushing circuits, both surface (Fuller Gyratory 30” Traylor type, Nordberg SX 300)and underground (Jaques 4842H double toggle).

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving work outcomes in a safe environment and in accordance with Osborne’s policies, procedures and values.

Requirements:

• Trade Qualifications in Mechanical Fitting or similar trade background

• Experience in the mining industry, with a good understanding of Fixed Plant and equipment

• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written

• Ability to manage personal work priorities and assist others, through sound planning and organisational skills.

• Ability to coach and mentor apprentices

• Must have a strong commitment towards safety

• Must have a high level of energy & initiative

• A current driver’s license
