Senior Mechanical Engineer North Bay, Ontario, Canada
Lead a team of junior to intermediate engineers in the design and installation of mechanical equipment related to mining facilities
Supervision of design and drafting personnel on mechanical design projects
Engineering project management, supplier co-ordination and client communication
Specification and procurement package writing
Assist the contracting group with business development and support, tendering work and estimation
Sign and seal mechanical engineering drawings for construction purposes
Conduct and signoff on the PDR requirements for mine plant per MOL guidelines
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering
Experience: 10-15 years in mechanical design and heavy construction
Registered professional engineering licensed to practice in the province of Ontario
Skills, knowledge & abilities
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD and FEA software as required
Knowledge of mining, mine plant construction and shaft sinking methodologies
Operation and design/problem solving experience with underground mine hoists and related hoisting systems (includes general knowledge of hoist drives and control systems)
Familiar with underground conveyors, mine dewatering, mine ventilation and heating, air compressors, pneumatic/hydraulic systems
Ability to handle change, self starter, work with minimum supervision and self critical of own work
