Currently the Brisbane office is working on major projects within Queensland and overseas. Projects are in mining and mineral processing. This is a standout opportunity for the advancement of an already successful career.

The PDS Coordinator Leads other technical staff, technologists and designers/drafters in design work within assigned discipline. Supports engineering/projects department in the performance of complex and demanding assignments requiring initiative and independent judgment. Directs the work of assigned personnel, meeting cost and time schedules.
Plans and coordinates independent work requiring judgment and experience in the substantial adaptation of engineering techniques. Devises new approaches to technical problems. Provides technical direction for specific tasks and assigns work to subordinate technical support specialists, engineers, designers, drafters, and project sub-groups. Requires experience and demonstrated skill in handling professional work at a senior level and a broad knowledge of precedents in the industry.

Plans and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of design. Knows applicable industry standards and codes, accepted design practices and quality standards for a global business unit. Participates in the operation of a small size design group in a particular discipline. Assists in the preparation of plans and coordinates the assigned work to meet the project schedules. Requires a basic knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, 2-D and 3-D CAD, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline.

Responsibilities include the following:

Instruct the project designers in the use of PDS tools and processes.
Develops and coordinates the implementation of the PDS tools with other coordinators in Brisbane and the site project offices.
Provides comprehensive CAD support, identifies & implements technical & automation improvements to the work process to produce top quality engineering deliverables
Lead the effort on day to day problem solving with regard to component placement errors, piping specification errors/additions, isometric extraction, etc.
Run daily 3D CAD clash reports, extract piping isometrics & material reports.
Process & implement non-standard requests according to global/regional automation policies & procedures.
Resolves customer service issues in a timely manner to support project schedule.
Travel as required to job site, vendor facilities,and client offices to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents.
Plans and coordinates independent work requiring judgment and experience the application and substantial adaptation of engineering techniques.
Devises new approaches to technical problems.
Provides technical direction for specific tasks and assigns work to subordinate senior engineers, engineers, designers, drafters or project sub-groups.
Monitors all PDS applications for compliance to project standards, contract requirements, quality standards, discipline standards, and accepted engineering and construction practices.
Candidate must have expertise with PDS.

Knowledge of relational data base management systems and specifically Oracle versions 9, 10, 11
Strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, able to interact closely and frequently with client management and operations and maintenance personnel while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness.

Preferred Requirements:
Familiarity with basic concepts of CAD systems (MicroStation, AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, etc)
Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems concepts and methods
Hands-on use of Microsoft Office tools (WORD, Powerpoint, EXCEL, ACCESS, (Visio)
Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication in English.

Relocation Assistance is available within Australia. Terms of offer are flexible either a contract or staff position available.
