Supt. Production - Metallurgy

Our client operates one of the world's largest and lowest-cost copper and gold operations in Papua, Indonesia. They are seeking an experienced metallurgist to fill the role of Superintendent – Production Metallurgy.

The purpose of this position is:

Provide metallurgical set points to the Concentrating Division operations group, to ensure performance targets are exceeded. Initiate and supervise continuous improvement projects. Provide scoping and financial evaluation for capital works and optimization projects as required.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position include:

• Ensure compliance with site safety and environmental standards

• Proactive participation in safety improvements

• Ensure a training program is in place for the development of subordinate staff

• Mentor subordinate staff in aspects of project metallurgy and project management

• Ensure mill metallurgical targets are being met on a daily basis and if not take necessary corrective action.

• Plan, conduct and analyse results from metallurgical lab testwork

• Undertake financial evaluations of identified project opportunities.

• Project management of approved metallurgical optimization projects including interaction with engineering, operations and maintenance people.

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and attributes:

• Metallurgy and Mineral Process knowledge

• Understanding of mineral processing business drivers

• Ability to supervise human resources.

• Ability to manage long-term and short-term projects.

• Willingness to work in a team environment

• Good computer skills.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Good English language skills.

• Highly achievement oriented.

• Highly focused on meeting customer requirement

• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.

• Strong ability to influence others.
