Chief Geologist

Our client, an ASX and AIM listed company with interests in gold and base metals projects, is seeking a Chief Geologist to oversee the geological activities of its PNG island-based gold operation. The role reports to the General Manager – Exploration and is responsible for the conduct of all exploration activities for the project. Duties include both technical and non-technical functions associated with mineral exploration.

To be successful, you should possess:

* A relevant degree in Geology or related discipline
* A minimum of 15 years exploration geology experience
* Familiarity with porphyry/epithermal style mineralisation and with operating in remote environments
* Proven skills and demonstrated performance in the areas of technical assessment of projects, and geological and logistical planning for exploration programmes
* Evaluation/decision making and negotiation/communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to successfully consult and develop effective working relationships at all levels
* A high level of computer literacy in geological database systems, specifically MapInfo or equivalent as well as Microsoft Office applications.

The salary package offered will be commensurate with experience, but is in the region of $180K plus superannuation. The role is offered on a Fly-in Fly-out basis from the point of hire (Australia – East Coast), nominally on a 16 days on/12 days off roster initially, however this may change to 21 days on/14 days off to fit in with site requirements at a future stage.
