Location: Australia Our client, a major gold producer with 10 operating mines in the Australia-Pacific region, urgently requires a Database Administrator for the company’s Australia-Pacific Exploration Regions geochemical database. The role is Perth-based.
The primary purpose of the Database Administrator role is to provide quality databases and products to assist the Exploration group in the discovery of gold deposits that will have a significant impact on the company’s earnings and growth. Specific responsibilities and duties of this role are:
* Validation and maintenance of the field data, including but not limited to surface geochemical data, drillhole data, PIMA data, structural data and analytical results
* Receiving and distribution of the data to the field camps and maintaining regular and up-to-date products on the exploration server.
* QAQC of analytical data and sampling procedures. Communication of any QAQC concerns with the laboratory and project personnel.
* Recommend and provide enhancements to databases and products, such as hard copy translated drill logs, simplified Access database exports for geologists’ use, PIMA data collection/processing/distribution, creation/modification of Acquire objects, etc.
* Provision of digital data for the compilation of technical reports for both in-house and departmental requirements
* Tracking the data flow from the field to the laboratory and into the database. This includes sample tracking, dispatch details, assay jobs assay invoicing.
To be successful, you should possess:
* A relevant degree in an IT specialty, or equivalent
* Skills in the use of AcQuire, Access and Surpac software
* Prior experience in a similar role in the minerals industry will be viewed favourable
The salary package offered will be commensurate with experience.
