Our Client, the owner and operator of one of the world’s premier gold mine, is located on a tropical island located to the north of PNG. The mine has significant gold resources and ranks among the top gold producers globally.

In this newly created position you will be responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the geothermal power stations and associated steam collection systems. You will be involved in the expansion of the Lihir geothermal power station/s using existing and alternate technologies, whilst ensuring the reservoir is utilised in an effective and sustainable manner to meet current and future power demands.

Your key responsibilities will include:

* Assisting with the development of short to long term plans to ensure geothermal generation meets the projects existing and future demands;
* Ongoing management and liaising with relevant departments/sections;
* Assisting with the management and implementation of the operations geothermal optimisation and expansion program;
* Developing and implementing operational and preventative maintenance procedures and management programs for the steam field and related systems; and
* Training and mentoring National staff in all aspects of geothermal systems and engineering.

To be successful for this position you will have:

* A Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized learning institute, coupled with a minimum of 10 years experience within the steam power industry with engineering design or specification of geothermal power station and steam field plant;
* Experience in operating and maintaining geothermal power stations and steam fields; and
* Sensitivity to the PNG National culture and the ability to foster ongoing training and development of their National employees, as is essential in all expatriate roles.

This newly created position presents an attractive and challenging career opportunity to work on a unique geothermal power development. In this role you will be offered an attractive FIFO roster of 15 days on / 13 days off to your point of hire. The remuneration and conditions of employment will be discussed at interview
