Our client, a progressive and innovative mining contractor, seeks to appoint a National Operations Manager to their Senior Management team. Reporting to the General Manager, the primary function of the National Operations Manager is to ensure the operational functions of the organisation are achieved across the company. As National Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Contribute to the company’s sustainable growth by driving the development, implementation and maintenance of operational and organisational processes,
* Assist with organisational planning by preparing and delivering operations status reports, participating in quarterly reviews and providing advice to the General Manager,
* Control spending on operations by developing, monitoring and reporting on the annual Operations budget by project (forecast and actual) on a monthly basis,
* Provide a safe and healthy workplace and drive adherence to safe systems of work by monitoring adherence to the company’s Safety Policy, Safety Management Plan and related procedures,
* Drive consistency across contracts by ensuring compliance to company policies, procedures and processes,
* Manage all technical and commercial aspects of projects by monitoring and reporting on planned goals and objectives and providing contract administration,
* Provide technical expertise to the Senior Management Team by assisting with tendering, scheduling, budgeting and negotiating contracts,
* Manage the project management teams by setting clear and achievable objectives within the specific contract parameters,
* Managing the Performance Management system for project management teams to ensure performance objectives are met,
* Build an effective project management team through participation in the selection process for new Project Managers taking into consideration internal promotions and external applicant experience, skills and attitudes.
To be successful in this role you will possess:
* Tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering, or equivalent,
* A minimum of 10 years mining experience and a solid background in contractor mining,
* Strong leadership skills and highly effective verbal and written communication skills,
* Commitment to meeting or exceeding industry standards in all aspects of the business,
* A strong business acumen with demonstrated ability in delivering a quality service on time & on budget,
* The ability and drive to foster a continuous improvement environment.
