Our client is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for their mine in Bulgaria. This underground gold/copper mine, located 75km east of Sofia, produced a record 70,108 tonnes of concentrate in 2006, containing 70,781 gold ounces and 25.4 million pounds of copper. The mine maintained its pre-expansion production rate of 900,000 tonnes of ore per year for the second year in a row and was profitable throughout 2006. Improvements in equipment and workforce training are ongoing in preparation of the planned ramp-up of mine production to a rate of 2.0 million tonnes per year.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Compilation of weekly plan;
o To meet monthly forecast, o Review performance against plan, o Recommend and develop measures to improve performance.
* Compilation of monthly and 3 Month Rolling Forecast;
o To align with Budget and Forecast, o Develop short term and medium term options to attain Budget, o Assess and highlight short/medium term bottlenecks.
* Management of the production engineering section;
o Provide technical requirements to mine operations, o Drill & Blast design, o Maintaining production database, o UG inspections to ensure work is completed to plan, o Develop review process and analysis of past performance for development and stoping and suggest changes for improvement.
* Develop and assess options and contingencies including but not limited to: mining methods, design parameters, scheduling;
* Incorporate continuous improvement programs to better practices in the technical and operational environment.
To be successful in this role you will possess:
* Bachelor of Engineering (Mining),
* Knowledge of specialized software relating to mine scheduling, design and blasting, preferably Gemcom,
* Excellent mining and technical knowledge and skills in underground mining methods,
* Experience in organizing and managing a team of various specialists,
* Knowledge of statutory requirements relating to development of mineral resources.
