Our client successfully operates a world-class open pit mine in North West Queensland and produces around 1 million tonnes of zinc and lead concentrates annually. It is Australia’s, and one of the world’s, largest zinc mines and employs nearly 1,000 people.

An excellent opportunity currently exists for a Superintendent – Shovels & Drills to join their dynamic Maintenance team.

An attractive FIFO roster is available for this position commuting from Townsville. A competitive remuneration package including site allowance, bonus incentive scheme, superannuation and relocation (subject to eligibility) will be offered to the successful applicant.

The Role
Reporting to the Mining Asset Manager, your role will include:

* Managing one of the largest open cut mobile equipment fleet in Australia
* Accountability for providing leadership to a multi-disciplined team of maintenance personnel to undertake planned and breakdown maintenance of a wide range of heavy mobile plant
* Management of fleet availability
* Organisation of scheduled shutdowns
* Development and presentation of budgets
* Coordinating ongoing maintenance of excavators, hydraulic shovels and drill rigs
* And manage a workforce of 170 employees

Qualifications

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering Mechanical Trade Qualifications
* Significant experience in the maintenance of mobile mining equipment ie large hydraulic excavators and drills
* Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products and SAP
