Mine Administration Manager South Africa
Permanent management level position in the Mining sector in Rusternburg in South Africa (Gauteng).
Qaulifications:
1. Matric with a 3 year tertiary diploma
2. Post graduate qualification will be an added advantage.
Responsibilities:
•Participate as a member of the Mine Management team
•Help the General Manager to motivate the Management team
•Liaise between Mine Management & Corporate Office on matters within the scope of the job
•Give input to the strategic plan to ensure administrative, finance and HR aspects are properly catered for
•Provide financial input and support to compile the mine strategic plan on time
•Structure accounting and administrative activities to enable regular reporting of operational performance against business plan
•Implement controls, policies and procedures to entrench corporate governance principles in all activities on the mine
•Ensure compliance with corporate policies
•Report on triple bottom line issues
•Establish risk management system to minimise exposure of the operation in all areas of responsibility
•Structure activities to provide accurate and timely reporting against SLP commitments and Mining Charter requirements –both own employees and contractors
•Take remedial action to ensure that objectives are met in own area of responsibilities
•Establish and maintain practical and effective policies and practices to facilitate operations
•Ensure all personnel are informed, understand and comply with policies and procedures (own employees and contractors)
•Structure activities to ensure all statutory reporting and record keeping is done accurately and on time
•Set up asset control systems to secure and record assets of all nature
•Institute quality management system in line with international standards
Set up structures and procedures to see that there is statutory compliance in all areas of responsibility
Establish procedures to report and pay statutory returns
•Set up systems and procedure to provide daily results on production performance in all aspects of the business
•Structure activities to provide reporting in the format and frequency as required by the General Manager, Corporate Office and other members of the Management team
•Establish payment authorisation procedures to exercise control over release of funds and compliance with settlement terms
•Ensure all assets are recorded and valued according to approved accounting standards
•Set up accounting structures, controls and routines to comply with Corporate policies and accepted accounting practices
•Set up systems to control expenditure, report against allocated budgets and issue variance reports explaining deviations
•Set up cash management systems to report on and forecast cash requirements of the business
•Manage financial risk, debtors, inventories, creditors and obligations
•Compile, monitor and report on capital authorisations and expenditures in line with the business plan
Establish equity compliant recruitment procedures for own personnel on the mine (in conjunction with Corporate Office)
Establish procedures and practices for consultation over employment equity, skills development and SLP commitments to see that targets are met
Establish training and development systems to identify needs, record training, development, coaching and mentoring and report thereon
Establish HR practices to ensure compliance with labour legislation –both own employees and contractors
Facilitate the establishment and maintenance of healthy industrial relations –both own employees and contractors
Ensure terms of contractors engaged meets business plan requirements
•Negotiate contracts for supply of goods and services in accordance with best practices
•Negotiate terms of contractors engaged to meet business plan requirements, monitor their performance against contract and institute remedial action where necessary
•Install appropriate systems and facilities to safeguard inventories
•Set up systems to record and control the receipt of, custody of and issue of stores and materials
