Details:Our client is one of the world’s largest producers of iron ore and ferroalloys with multi-billion dollar sales and a massive workforce spread throughout its many mining, processing and energy operations in Kazakhstan.
They are currently seeking to engage a suitably experienced mining professional as Chief Operating Officer to drive and manage engineering support functionalities and develop technical programs, ensuring the efficient and sustainable performance of the company.
Based in the country’s capital, Astana, and reporting directly to the company’s President, the Primary Responsibilities of the role will include:
Development and implementation of policies and procedures that regulate corporate activities;
Submission of proposals on implementing and upgrading the performance of company divisions and justifications of expenditure required therein;
Development of operating strategies for company divisions;
Assessment of mining reserves and implementation of strategies and systems to manage them sustainably;
Preparation and delivery of routine corporate reports;
Management of the training and development of personnel;
Coordination, execution and control of Unit budgets;
Implementation of proactive Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental programs;
Coordination, control and analysis of internal procurement procedures and budgets; and
Development of continuous improvement programs and monitoring the effectiveness of corrective actions arising from them.
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following experience and skills:
• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant technical discipline;
• Post Graduate qualifications in a financial discipline, such as an MBA, would be well regarded;
• Proven experience in technical value adding in large company environments;
• Track record of success in a broad spectrum of commodities, either in operations or in a corporate roles;
• High levels of drive and past experience in aggressively growing operations through identifying and exploiting new opportunities; and
• Previous experience working in the Former Soviet Union would be highly regarded.
This position is offered on a residential basis only. A generous tax free salary package and bonus structure will be negotiated to reflect the level of experience of the appointee.
