Reporting to the Team General Foreman, Reliability Centered Maintenance, the Mechanical Engineer will provide technical guidance and analytical skills in preparing feasibility studies, preliminary designs, engineering specifications and failure reviews. Red Dog Mine, located in NW Alaska, is a modern, technically challenging open pit mine, mill and port facility. It is a remote, but modern and well-equipped fly-in fly-out operation that provides free room and board for employees, and regular transportation between the mine and Anchorage or villages in the NANA region. Rotation schedule will be two weeks on-site and one week off-site or four weeks on-site and two weeks off-site.
Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate will be a graduate Mechanical Engineer, five years experience preferred
Must have Safe Work Practices; working knowledge of OSHA / MSHA Standards preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others on a team
Direct mining and/or formal Reliability Centered Maintenance experience would be an asset
Must complete assigned work in a professional manner, including necessary measurements, calculations, analyses, interpretations, reporting and recommendations
Shall have working knowledge of Industry Related Standards, including use of ASME Code, Pump Calculations, Pipe Stress Analysis, Pipe System and Material Selections
Shall have experience troubleshooting, upgrading, and designing slurry pump systems
Shall have working knowledge of International Building Codes (IBC), and ability to apply standards for repair work, modifications, and new construction
Project Management experience including management of third party contractors would be an asset
